A coupon, sometimes called a promotion code or free credit, gives new customers a way to try out Bing Ads. Although you can’t request coupons, you can find them through Bing Ads promotional events, online marketing drives, or other special offers.
After you add a coupon code, it can take up to 10 minutes before the coupon balance is added to your account and appears on the Billing tab.
Requirements for coupons
- Before you can redeem your coupon, you must have a primary payment method for your account. Postpay accounts can use credit cards, debit cards (not valid for accounts in India), or PayPal accounts (US only). Prepay accounts can use credit cards or debit cards (not valid for accounts in India). You cannot redeem your coupon if you have a prepay account and pay by check, bank transfer, or wire transfer.
- New customer promotion coupons must be redeemed within 30 days of signing up for Bing Ads.
- You, or someone else, cannot have redeemed the coupon previously for this or another account.
- The date on the coupon must be current. Check the details of the coupon for the start and expiration dates.
- Once a coupon is redeemed, you have 90 days or until the expiration date to use the credit, whichever comes first. You need to spend the full amount before the coupon expires.
- You cannot use coupons to pay for an existing balance.
- After a coupon has expired or the coupon amount runs out, your ads will continue to run, and we’ll charge your primary payment method (postpay account) or deduct funds (prepay account). If you have a prepay account and no funds are available, we’ll pause the account.
How to add a coupon
If you already have a primary payment method:
- Click the gear icon
, and then click Accounts & Billing. - If you have multiple accounts, select an account from the drop-down list at the top of the page.
- In the section called Coupon, enter the coupon code, and then click Redeem.
If you haven’t added a payment method yet:
- Click the gear icon , and then click Accounts & Billing.
- Click the Payment Methods tab.
- Click Add card.
(If you want to use PayPal instead of a card, see add a PayPal account.) - Select the country/region of your card’s billing address and click Next.
- Next to Set as, select primary.
- Enter your payment information and billing address, and click Next.
We will make a small authorization charge (for example, $1 USD) to verify your card. This charge will be removed. - Click the Accounts tab.
- In the section called Coupon, enter the coupon code, and then click Redeem.
What happens after I redeem my coupon?
- After you add a coupon code, you will get a notification that the code was successfully added and you will receive a confirmation email.
- It can take up to 10 minutes before your balance appears in your Bing Ads account. During this time, Bing Ads will charge your primary payment method unless you pause your campaign.
- Once your coupon balance appears on the Billing tab and your campaign is active, Bing Ads will deduct your advertising costs from the coupon balance until the coupon is used up or it expires.
- At that point, we will start charging your primary payment method (postpay threshold account) or start deducting funds (prepay account). If you do not have a prepay balance, we will pause your account until you add funds. Learn how to Add funds to a prepay account.
